Belly laughs
Nothing heals a broken heart quite like a good laugh. If you can’t get to a real life stand upcomedy show, tune into an epic female comedian on thetelly, or listen to a funny podcast and connect to the wider conversations around heartache, feminism and empowerment - and know that you’re not alone. This might be a laughter yoga, YES, laughter yoga! You may find just the idea of this connects you to your funny bones. Try this: inhale deeply and stretch out your vowels by saying ‘Haaaa haaa haaahaa.’ Do this 6 times. Then, ‘Heeee heee heee heee.’ The body makes no distinction between false laughter and real, so the positive effect is the same: reduced cortisol and increased endorphins – you will feel happier and better, even if the laughter isn’t genuine. Amazing, eh?
