The importance of warmth
By Alice Haddon
We take warmth very seriously. Just like the marathon runner is wrapped in foil at the end of the race, so too do we need to wrap ourselves up when we’ve been through something hard. It helps to regulate our emotions…and it does this by soothing our entire system and bringing our adrenaline and cortisol levels down. When it comes to self care for heartbreak pain, we think warmth needs to be a priority. A hot bath? A nice cup of tea? Good because they are warm, not because they are watery, or in the case of tea nutritional.
So, if you’re struggling right now, feeling anxious, on edge, or in the dumps, go and treat yourself to a beautiful new warm blanket and a hot water bottle, and keep both close for whenever you need…or want.
